As Christians, New Year's can be a time for us to reflect on the past year, set spiritual goals for the future, and focus on our relationship with God. At New Hope we want to help you better yourself and your spiritual journey. Here are five tips for celebrating New Year's in a way that honors God and helps us grow closer to Him:
Reflect on the past year: Take some time to think about the past year and how you have grown in your faith. If there are any areas where you have fallen short, confess your sins and ask God for forgiveness (Psalm 103:12).
Set spiritual goals: Consider what you would like to focus on in terms of your spiritual growth in the coming year. This might include reading the Bible more, praying more, or serving others. Write down your goals and make a plan for how you will achieve them (Philippians 3:13-14). Consider joining along with other people at New Hope in reading the Bible in a year! (Read more here).
Spend time in prayer: New Year's is a great time to spend extra time in prayer, asking God to guide and direct you in the coming year (Colossians 4:2).
Worship with other believers: Gather with other believers to sing praises to God and give thanks for His faithfulness (Hebrews 10:24-25).
Focus on others: Look for opportunities to serve and bless others in the coming year, focusing on the needs of those around you (Galatians 6:10). This might include volunteering at a local organization, helping out a neighbor, or simply being a listening ear for someone who needs it.
As we celebrate the start of a new year, let us keep these tips in mind and strive to honor God in all that we do. May the coming year be a time of spiritual growth and closer relationship with Him.
